"We should learn to love each other outside of time... detached." - Marcello, La Dolce Vita
We seem to remember and rank the events that occur not by the importance of the information or relevance to us, but by how long ago it happened. Who remembers what Andrea Yates was convicted of or who Terri Schiavo was anymore? News used to be synonymous with large headlines spanning across the front page of the newspaper, but with the rise in digital communication we have begun to receive our information through Twitter feeds and other snippets of headlines. My thesis aims to think back in time about the events that happened last year, some tragic and some trivial, to suggest visual explorations of the news that will help us remember. Like Marcello in La Dolce Vita, we can then focus on the connections we make instead of when or how we made them.
